State troopers are investigating a car wreck that killed a woman this morning in Berkeley County.

The woman was driving south on U.S. Highway 17-A when her 2003 Mitsubishi ran off the left side of the road near Willow Haven Lane and crashed into a tree at 7:59 a.m., according to Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres. The woman was alone in the car and was not wearing a seat belt, he said.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said he is not ready to release the woman’s name because he is still trying to notify members of her family about her death.
