Charleston Police release vehicle description in fatal accident
A sterling grey metallic Ford F-150 pickup is believed to be the vehicle that left the scene early Friday after inflicting fatal injuries to a bicyclist in West Ashley, police said.
Gerard Nieto, 51, of West Ashley was found with his bicycle nearby at about 1:30 a.m. Friday on Savannah Highway, near and White Oak Drive and the Best Western hotel. He died of blunt force trauma, the Charleston County Coroner’s Office said.
Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said Monday that investigators believe the hit-and-run vehicle was a Ford F-150 pickup, between model years 2009 and 2012. The truck probably has front end damage on the right side near the headlight, Francis said.
Anyone with information about this incident can call Charleston Police at 577-7434 or Crime Stoppers at 554-111.
