DILLON — Shawn Singletary pitched a four-hitter and Tradd Lowman blasted a three run homer as Bishop England beat Dillon, 6-1, Saturday night in the first round of the Class AA Lower State Championship baseball series.

The Bishops will host Hanahan on Monday after topping Dillon’s Jamie Callahan for the second year in a row. Callahan, who will pitch for the University of South Carolina next year, gave up seven hits in a game called after five innings because of rain.

Singletary, a right-hander who will pitch for Brunswick Community College next year, upped his record to 4-3, striking out five and walking two.

Lowman, Zack Madden and Ryan Maksim all had two hits for the Bishops, who improved to 18-10.

Dillon hosts Marion in an elimination game on Monday.
