Janeil Jenkins, a 5-10 point guard from Jacksonville, Fla., has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at The Citadel, coach Chuck Driesell announced today.

Jenkins led The Miller School in Jacksonville to a 20-10 record last season and two 37 wins over the last two years.

“We’re excited to add a player of Janeil’s caliber to our program,” said Driesell. “For the past two years, while at The Miller School under head coach Scott Williard, he’s competed against the nation’s best teams and players. This will certainly benefit Janeil as well as The Citadel in the fall when we begin play.”

Last season, Jenkins scored 218 points and scored in double figures 10 times.

“Janeil has demonstrated the ability to handle the ball and become an explosive with tremendous court vision,” Driesell said. “I am even more confident that he will be successful in all phases of his cadet-student-athlete life here at The Citadel.”

Jenkins joins 6-6 forward Matt Van Scyoc and 6-3 guard Rae Robinson of Goose Creek High School in the Bulldogs’ freshman class for next season.
