The sun-kissed days of summer are just around the corner. Sunscreen spans the store shelves, college students rush to the beach in droves and children flood the tidal pools as a source of entertainment.
In the haste of taking a cool water dip, however, don’t leave your fashion sense behind.
This season’s biggest poolside and beach-goer trend is a true throwback to vintage swimwear.
Think “pin-up,” think “Marilyn” and look for the best boyfriend bottoms for your figure. The most flattering bathing suit will depend on the size of one’s derriere. A full-coverage suit works the same as one with minimal coverage: They both enhance the size of the bottom.
Look to show some skin, just not too much or too little.
Keep things cool and cover up with a pair of fabulous shades, a large brimmed sun hat and dresses that emphasize coverage with a stylish twist.

Busy mom wants to stay in style
DEAR LEXI: I am a stay-at-home mom and I find myself living in T-shirts and jeans or the same cropped legging outfit. I’d like to look more fashionable when I pick up my son from school since we usually go to lunch and spend the afternoon doing activities.
Do you have any suggestions? — Christy, West Ashley
DEAR CHRISTY: Stay-at-home moms are often on the go and need clothing that is appropriate for several types of activities. Look for shoes that have a minimal or flat heel or a wedge that provides more stability.
Shop for items that are machine washable and low maintenance. One-pieces such as a sundress or rompers make for a quick fashion choice.
Just add thick, durable accessories to complete the look.
