Summerville High School knocks off South Florence to claim district softball title

Coach Heather Tucker and her Summerville High School softball team are playing in the Class AAAA playoffs.

SUMMERVILLE – Summerville High School outlasted South Florence, 11-9, tonight to claim the District VIII title and a berth in the Class AAAA Lower State semifinals.

The Green Wave (27-3) will take on Wando for a spot in the Lower State state championship series.

Summerville needed two games to get the job done Wednesday. South Florence took the first one, 9-8, in nine innings to force a second game in the double-elimination tournament.

The Green Wave beat South Aiken, 8-0, in the opening game and knocked off South Florence, 13-4, on Saturday.
