Austin powers RiverDogs in 14-9 win over Hickory
HICKORY, N.C. RiverDogs outfielder Tyler Austin drilled two homers including a grand slam and drove in seven runs as Charleston rallied for a 14-9 win over Hickory on Saturday night.
In a matchup of unbeaten starting pitchers, it was offense that stole the show as Austin led a 14-hit attack as the RiverDogs (16-5) rallied from an 8-4 deficit to beat the Crawdads (14-8).
I just got two good pitches to hit, and I took advantage, said Austin, who has a South Atlantic League-leading eight homers. We have such a great lineup, it could have been anybody, and tonight it was me.
In the sixth, the RiverDogs took the lead with six runs.
The teams play again at 5 p.m. today. Right-hander Caleb Cotham (2-0, 2.00 ERA) will start for Charleston.
