Georgia Southern tops The Citadel to even SoCon baseball series

Georgia Southern pitcher Justin Hess allowed one run and struck out seven over six innings as the Eagles took a 5-2 victory over The Citadel today in college baseball at Riley Park.

The Eagles’ victory evened the three-game series at 1-1. The rubber game is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Hess (3-2) walked only one and allowed seven hits for GSU (24-20, 11-9). Eric Phillips hit two doubles and drove in a run for the Eagles.

Citadel starter Kevin Connell (1-4) allowed seven hits but just one earned run over four innings. Bo Thompson hit a home run and Justin Mackert also drove in a run for the Bulldogs (18-25, 8-12).
