Wreck takes out traffic signal on Folly Road
A car that overturned Friday evening on Folly Road knocked down a utility pole and put out traffic signals at a busy intersection.
The car rolled over in a single-vehicle accident about 6:45 p.m. at Folly and Grimball roads. The driver, whose name was not avialable, was taken to a hospital, Folly Beach Public Safety Department Chief Dennis Brown said.
He said an investigation is underway to determine if alcohol was a factor in the accident.
Brown said the accident and the loss of the traffic light disrupted traffic. The light was reported to have still been out at 9 p.m., but with police on the scene, traffic had returned to near normal.
