4106 BABBITT ST. Up-to-date interior, pond view sets apart townhome for lease in Ashley Park

Condo- or homeowners who are renting out their property can usually describe the perks because they’ve lived there.
Robert Hunt would be an exception. He has no difficulty explaining the fine points of the townhome he holds in the Ashley Park community off Glenn McConnell Parkway.
The unusual part is that he’s never lived in the townhouse, built in 2007.
Hunt resides in California but had purchased the property to eventually relocate to the Charleston area to be closer to grandchildren here. Then, the kin moved west, just 500 miles away.
“I’ve never seen the house,” Hunt says. At the same time, he’s familiar with the property by way of photographs and such. “It is a nice plan,” he says.
The owner is renting the now-vacant 1,600-square-foot townhome for $1,195 a month. He is asking for a year’s lease.
To help out, a son-in-law with Delta Air Lines from time to time checks in on the 4106 Babbitt St. residence, which has three stories including a ground level “tandem” garage.
Advantages of the townhome are its relatively large size, clear scenes of an Ashley Park pond with fountain and a well-fortified kitchen. There’s also plenty of space: The mid-rise has three bedrooms, three full baths and living room.
The Hunts have leased the townhouse a few times before. “We’ve had various people over the years,” he says. They’ve included young professionals, firemen and young families.
A covered eave marks the entrance to 4106 Babbitt St. Inside is a small foyer that leads up a flight of stairs to the main floor. At the left of the entryway is the inside entrance to the garage. As a tandem, it has a single garage door but fits two cars, one in back of the other.
The stairs lead to the broad living room, which has a fireplace and a space over the mantel for a flat-screen television. A sizable window offers sights of the pond and fountain. Off the family quarters is the kitchen, which stocks a refrigerator, dishwasher, cooktop stove and built-in microwave. There’s also a counter that separates the cooking area from the living room. A bedroom and bath are at the front of the townhouse.
Marking the top floor are two more baths and bedrooms, which both have large windows.
The neighborhood is quiet, according to Hunt. As an end unit, the townhome doesn’t see as much traffic. “The person has privacy and a nice view,” he says.
Ashley Park is located just off Wildcat Boulevard, the entrance road to West Ashley High School. Traveling west, take S.C. Highway 61 (Ashley River Road) across Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and bear left on Glenn McConnell Parkway. Continue about three miles and make a left at the traffic light at Wildcat Boulevard. Go a short distance and veer left onto the Murray Boulevard entry road to Ashley Park. Take the first left on Babbitt treet and follow it through a few roundabouts. On the right is 4106 Babbitt St.
