College of Charleston’s softball team added a doubleheader with Charleston Southern to its schedule with games slated for 3 p.m. May 2 at Patriots Point.

The doubleheader will serve as the third of the season between the crosstown rivals. The teams are 2-2 against each other this year with the home team sweeping both doubleheaders.

Volleyball
Two home tournaments highlight the Charleston Southern volleyball team’s 2012 schedule, which was announced by head coach Danyel Bellush. A year after playing only eight homematches, the Bucs will host 16 of their 31 contests this season.

The schedule features matchups with Georgia Tech, SMU and Cal State-Fullerton.

Baseball
Clemson senior utility player Phil Pohl was announced as one of 10 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for baseball. Nationwide fan voting on seniorclassaward.com begins immediately to determine the winner. Voting is through June 11. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I men’s head coaches’ votes to determine the winner.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as a senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence — community, classroom, character, and competition.
