RiverDogs extend win streak to nine games with 4-1 win over Lexington
LEXINGTON, KY — Charleston’s Caleb Cotham and two relievers held Lexington to five hits as the RiverDogs won, 4-1, to extend their winning streak to nine games.
Charleston (14-3) leads the South Atlantic League by 2½ games over Asheville.
Cotham gave up one run in the first, but the RiverDogs held the Legends (8-11) scoreless the rest of the way. Cotham went five innings, while Brett Gerritse went three scoreless innings and Philip Wetherell a scoreless ninth for his third save.
The RiverDogs scored three times in the second on a bases-loaded wakl by Cito Culver and a two-run double by Reymond Nunez. Gary Sanchez scored on a double by Angelo Gumbs in the third inning to make it 4-1.
Game two is at 10 a.m. today. Right-hander Bryan Mitchell (0-1, 3.75 ERA) will start for the RiverDogs, while left-hander Kyle Hallock (1-0, 9.28 ERA) will start for the Legends.
