2 charges dropped in horse case
Two horses that in February were underweight and living in a manure-filled pen with dirty water and little food are now thriving, a Berkeley County Animal Control officer said Thursday.
As a result, the last two of seven animal cruelty charges against Dwight N. Benjamin McCloud of 1181 Old Dairy Road, Summerville, were dropped.
Officer Michele Collins said she visited the horses on Monday and found conditions to be improved.
McCloud voluntarily gave up two other horses to LEARN horse rescue on March 2.
