Authorities investigating girls drowning in Ladson-area pond
A 2-year-old girl died Friday after being pulled from a Ladson area pond, authorities said Wednesday.
Sia Jarvis of the Summerville Parks Subdivision was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Trident Medical Center, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Dottie Lindsay said.
The drowning site is in Summerville town limits and Charleston County.
At 6 p.m. Friday, a caller told a 911 operator that a child had fallen into a pond in the Breckingridge Drive area. A neighbor pulled the girl from the pond and performed CPR until Summerville firefighters arrived, according to a Summerville police report.
The report states the toddler had been missing for a time and that a search by her mother and the neighbor found the girl floating in shallow water. The report states investigators photographed the pond area and were gathering information regarding the period the child was missing.
