Best Buy announces 42 more store closings; none are in S.C.
None of the three Charleston area Best Buy stores will be affected by the latest round of closings announced over the weekend by the consumer electronics giant.
The Minnesota-based company on Saturday issued its list of 42 more stores to be shuttered, with most of them going dark by May 12. Three others will close by late summer.
The ailing company announced March 29 it would close 50 stores in the U.S. as a cost-cutting measure and focus more on its Best Buy Mobile small-format stores. Eight other closings were previously announced. None of the affected shops is in South Carolina.
