Outdoor Life names Georgetown No. 7 in top towns for sportsmen
Georgetown has been ranked No. 7 among the top towns in the U.S. for sportsmen by Outdoor Life magazine.
The rankings appear in the May issue of the publication. This was the fifth time the publication has ranked “Best Towns for Sportsmen.”
The magazine cited Georgetown’s easy access to several rivers that converge in the area as well as famed fishing on lakes Moultrie and Marion and nearby Francis Marion National Forest as reasons it made the list.
Appleton, Wis., was ranked No. 1. The Boone and Crockett Club recently ranked Wisconsin as the No. 1 state in the country for trophy whitetail deer.
Other towns in the top 10 are No. 2 Salmon, Idaho; No. 3 Venice, La.; No. 4 Rapid City, S.D.; No. 5 Centerville, Iowa; No. 6 Grand Junction, Colo.; No. 8 Bend, Oregon; No. 9 Bismarck, N.D.; and No. 10 Saratoga, Wyo.
