Clemson lands verbal commitment from Gallman, could nation’s No. 1 recruit, Nkemdiche, be next?

CLEMSON - Clemson earned a verbal commitment from Grayson High (Ga.) running back Wayne Gallman on Wednesday, according to multiple recruiting services. While the 3-star rated, 6-foot-1, 190-pound back will help with Clemson’s depth, the commitment also figures to boost Clemson’s chances at signing defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, Gallman’s friend and high school teammate, who is rated by some as the nation’s No. 1 prospect in the 2013 class.

Gallman, Nkemdiche and fellow teammate defensive back David Kamara have all expressed interest in Clemson and continuing to play together. Kamara and Nkemdiche have offers from Clemson and both consider Clemson to be in their final group of college choices.

“Me and Robert might try and go to the same place, and Wayne likes Clemson a lot,” Kamara said last month. “We all like Clemson a lot. I’d say it’s a seven or an eight chance (out of 10) that we all pick Clemson. We all want to go to Clemson, but it’s where we each feel most at home. I know for me and Wayne, Clemson leads. And Clemson is in Robert’s top five. Clemson and LSU lead for Robert.”

Nkemdiche is also considering LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia. Gallman also has offers from USC, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Georgia.

Nkemdiche will announce his college choice May 18.
