The 4,401 fans on hand at Riley Park on Monday night were hoping to see a fourth straight baseball victory by the RiverDogs to start their South Atlantic League season.

However, the RiverDogs came up short, falling 7-4 to the Augusta GreenJackets (3-2).

Augusta used a four-run first inning to take control of the game. A one-out triple by Kelby Tomlinson was followed by an RBI single by Ben Thomas to put Augusta up 1-0. A fielders choice scored a second run and two batters later, Brett Krill doubled over the head of right fielder Kelvin De Leon to knock in two more runs.

Allen (0-1) took the loss after giving up five runs in four innings for Charleston and DeMondre Arnold (1-0) got the win for Augusta.

Coming up
Will Oliver (0-0 0.00) will take on Edwin Escobar (0-0 0.00) in the second game of the series tonight. It will be Two-for-Tuesday, where there will be two-for-one discounts at the Riley Park box office.
