A driver was killed Tuesday night when a pickup truck ran off the road and crashed in Dorchester County, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The driver, who hasn’t been identified, was ejected in the single-vehicle crash about 7:40 p.m. on Sugar Hill Road about 7:40 p.m., said Cpl. Bob Beres, a Highway Patrol spokesman.

The Ford Ranger ran off the left side of the roadway, the driver over corrected, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a sign and overturned, Beres said.

The incident still is under investigation. It’s not yet known whether the driver was wearing a seat belt.
