WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – A South Carolina man has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for kidnapping a woman he assaulted and left unconscious in an upstate New York hotel.

The U.S. Attorney’s office in Syracuse says 32-year-old Arnold Fox, of Ravenel, admitted in August that he placed an online ad for a horse farm job that lured the 21-year-old woman to Pennsylvania in December 2009. Several days later, he physically and sexually assaulted her and left her bound with duct tape in a hotel in Weedsport, N.Y.

Fox pleaded guilty in August to kidnapping. He also admitted he stole the woman’s car, changed the plates and fled to Florida, where he was arrested by the FBI in Miami on Dec. 12, 2009.

Fox was sentenced Friday.
