Charleston RiverDogs home opener postponed because of rain
The Charleston RiverDogs season opener against the Rome Braves Thursday night was postponed after a thunderstorm passed through downtown Charleston.
The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader against the Braves on May 18. The game will be resumed from where it was left off with Rome leading the RiverDogs, 1-0, in the bottom of the first inning.
Tickets from Thursday night’s game can be redeemed for any remaining 2012 regular season game.
The Braves scored when shortstop Elmer Reyes opened the game with a triple to left-center. Reyes later scored on a double steal.
RiverDogs center fielder Mason Williams answered in the bottom of the ninth with a triple of his own. The game ended before another pitch was thrown with RiverDogs shortstop Cito Culver at the plate.
