Severe thunderstorm watch extended

A severe thunderstorm watch has been extended to 9 p.m. for Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties, according to the National Weather Service.

The Charleston office reports no hail or tornadoes within the tri-county area, but gusts up to 37 mph have been registered at the airport.

There have been reports of several trees down in the Green Pond area of Colleton County and in the Sheldon area of Beaufort County.

There has been a report of dime-sized hail in Jasper County. A spotter reported a 60 mph gust in Summerville, but with no damage.

Both the RiverDogs game and Family Circle Cup matches have been canceled for the evening.
