Tigers AD says Clemson-Georgia football series will be played
CLEMSON – Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips told the radio station 790 AM in Atlanta the Clemson-Georgia football series will be played. Phillips said it will “hopefully” be played as schedule in 2013 and 2014.
Clemson is scheduled to host Georgia on Aug. 31 next year and travel to Athens in 2014.
The ACC’s decision to expand to a nine-game conference schedule when Syracuse and Pittsburgh begin play in the conference threatens to truncate Clemson’s home schedule.
It’s still undetermined when Pitt and Syracuse will begin play in the ACC.
To continue to keep a full home schedule of seven games - a financial must - Clemson officials noted earlier this month they might have to consider ending its home-and-home arrangement with Georgia.
Clemson also has future high-profile, home-and-home series scheduled with Ole Miss (2015-16) and Oklahoma State (2019-20).
