DHEC head to get $151,942
Columbia -- The Department of Health and Environmental Control's new director won't get the $180,000 annual salary she requested.
A state commission has set Catherine Templeton's salary at $151,942. The Agency Head Salary Commission made its decision Thursday after receiving DHEC's request, the S.C. Budget and Control board said in an email Friday.
DHEC's governing board, appointed by Republican Gov. Nikki Haley, chose Templeton. The Mount Pleasant lawyer, who drew praise from GOP lawmakers, is the former director of the state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
An attempt to reach Templeton Friday evening was unsuccessful.
