The South Carolina Stingrays signed Patrick Cullen to amateur tryout contract on Tuesday just hours after forward Daniel Koger was called up to the American Hockey League's Hershey Bears.
Cullen played four seasons at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he recorded 24 goals and 38 assists in 136 games for the Red Hawks. In 33 games as a senior, Cullen had six goals and eight assists.
"Patrick attended the Washington Capitals developmental camp a couple of times," said Stingrays head coach Spencer Carbery. "He's a guy that can make plays and has a very good shot."
Charleston Battery midfielder Alex Caskey was transferred to MLS' Seattle Sounders.
Caskey played in 22 games for the Battery last summer, scoring one goal an adding an assist.
College of Charleston sophomore Dena O'Brien was named the SoCon athlete of the month for women's indoor track and field.
Stephanie Saylors Saylors posted a 5-1 record with 0.86 ERA in her 40 2/3 innings of work as the SoCon softball pitcher of the month.
