US Airways dropping flights to New York; Delta will add one
Flyers between Charleston and New York can expect big changes soon.
Charleston International will lose its two US Airways flights to New York City's La Guardia Airport on March 25, but it will pick up another one from Delta Airlines to John F. Kennedy International Airport on June 7.
The changes are the result of a much broader deal between the two airlines where US Airways is trading takeoff and landing rights with Delta so US Airways can concentrate on its shuttle service between Boston, Washington and New York and expand its presence at Washington's Reagan National Airport.
In return, Delta will acquire more of the lucrative New York market at La Guardia where it intends to create a hub.
