S.C. to host trade conference

A trade show focused on strengthening the business ties between the Southeast U.S. and Canada will take place this spring in Myrtle Beach, a popular vacation spot for Canadians.

South Carolina is the host for the fifth annual Southeastern U.S.-Canadian Provinces Alliance conference to be held May 20-22 at the Marriott Resort and Spa at Grand Dunes. More than 300 Canadian and U.S. business and government leaders are expected to attend to promote trade and investment opportunities.

The alliance is a partnership between states in the Southeast and member provinces from Canada. The program in Myrtle Beach will focus on opportunities for companies in advanced manufacturing, technology and green economy sectors.

Gov. Nikki Haley will host the conference, and New Brunswick's Premier David Alward will serve as co-host.

The states that are part of the alliance are South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee. The participating Canadian provinces include Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.
