Charleston County School of the Arts sixth-graders recently celebrated the culmination of their unit of study on ancient Greece with Greek Day.

The celebration was a joint effort among sixth-grade teachers, cafeteria staff, parents and community members. In addition to a museum-style viewing of student-created projects, students and parents prepared Greek delicacies, the cafeteria served Greek chicken at lunch and students participated in Olympic games.

According to sixth-grade math teacher Carmen Ellis, the highlight of the festivities was the Greek dancing taught by community members. "The kids ... seemed to be having a great time," Ellis said.
