Class AAA coaches deny split divisions
Class AAA football coaches on Wednesday voted against an amendment that would have split their classification into two divisions for the football playoffs, High School League commissioner Jerome Singleton said.
“Even if they had voted in favor of it, the (High School League) executive committee would have to approve it,” Singleton said.
Class AAA will remain the only one of the four classifications in the Palmetto State to crown only one football champion.
The Class AAAA teams split into Division I-AAAA and II-AAAA 1981, while Class A split into two divisions in 2006. Class AA split into two divisions in 2011.
