Center Street at Folly Beach will be closed from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, as the island holds its Fifth Annual “Folly Gras."
Folly Gras is from 1 to 5 p.m., with music, dancing and food and drink provided by local businesses. The public is invited.
Masks will be sold in front of City Hall. Five live bands will set up beside Center Street. Restaurants will prepare special New Orleans fare and Mardi Gras drinks.
A parade will begin at 2 p.m. from the Tides Hotel and proceed on Center Street to East Hudson Avenue. Trophies will be given for “Best All Around Folly Gras Spirit,” “Best Golf Cart,” “Best Float” and “Best Costume.”
First-, second- and third-place trophies will be awarded to restaurants with the “Best New Orleans Food Fare.”
