Dive teams searched the murky depths of Rantowles Creek for most of the day Tuesday, recovering two vehicles that were underwater.

Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Jim Brady said divers concluded their work about 5 p.m.

A caller had reported a car in the water on Monday and when authorities visited the site Monday, they suspected there might be three vehicles in the water.

Searchers today found only two.

"Both vehicles have been recovered and based on the condition of the vehicles they have been in the water for a prolonged period of time," Brady said.

One was identified as a Honda, but the other one had not yet been identified because its condition was deteriorated, Brady said. Investigators were to begin the process to identify the vehicles and determine who owned them.

No one was found inside any of the vehicles, and investigators are only just beginning to look into how the vehicles came to be in Rantowles Creek, Brady said.
