Richard Todd, the popular “Morning Buzz” radio talk show host whose wife died after a long and public fight with cancer Jan. 3, will return to his WTMA time slot Thursday.

Mary Todd was 44 and had shared her struggle to help raise breast cancer funds and awareness. Richard Todd has been off the air since his wife’s death, mostly tending to their 9-year-old son Tyler.

“It’s time for me to get back to work,” Todd said Tuesday. “I have to return to the life I was living before Mary died. My boy is great; he’s my hero. But he’s back on his path at school and I have to get back on mine.”

Todd, a cancer survivor, regularly sets a community tone for current events and political talk during his show from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. each weekday morning.

“Morning Buzz” will start at 5:30 a.m. begining on Feb. 21, Todd said.

On Valentine’s Day, Todd was not making attempts to hide his daily battle with adjustment to life as a single father.

“Even in her sickest days,” Todd said, “Mary was still here for me.”
