Berkeley school board to start work on 2012-2013 budget
Berkeley County School Board will begin working on it's budget for next year today.
At a time when the board is planning a campaign to ask voters to support a $250 million bond referendum to fund new schools in the district, the board will consider other ways to tow the line to keep costs down in its general budget while still meeting the needs of all students in the county.
At today's meeting, the board is expected to receive the proposed budget for informational purposes only.
In addition, the board will give final approval to the 2012-13 school calendar, which mirrors the Dorchester School District 2 calendar and has school starting on Aug. 20 and ending May 31, 2013.
