Locals visit Charles Towne Landing for half price

Charleston-area residents are getting a chance to see where South Carolina took shape for a reduced price this weekend.

Residents of Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley counties can visit Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site in Charleston for half price this weekend.

Charles Towne Landing is where the Carolina Colony was founded in 1670.

Saturday is Exploration and Discovery Day at the park and visitors will be able to see what life was like for the first settlers.

There are also special behind-the-scenes tours of the park's animal forest, Legare Waring House and other areas at Charles Towne Landing.
