Situated in a quiet corner of South Windermere neighborhood near the Wappoo Cut, Rebellion Road has a lot going for it.

Fashionable stucco, brick and wood frame homes line the street. A number of houses are waterfront and some possess docks and piers.

About all the street lacked was a brand new home. Now that’s been taken care of, thanks to local business associates.

Jonathan Goldfarb, who heads Riverland Builders LLC, recently completed the final touches framing the house at 12 Rebellion Road. The developer is C.J. Dempsey and his OHAY (One House a Year) venture. At the same time, Dempsey and Goldfarb are marketing the house for sale through Goldfarb’s real estate agency The Avalon Co.

The three-level, 2,825-square-foot home with columned front balconies on the main and upper floors is priced at $849,000.

“We thought this would draw interest for people who look at a Crescent or Wappoo Heights,” says Dempsey, referring to two posh neighborhoods nearby.

The 12 Rebellion Road property, which sports a privacy fence, also has a gravel area for guest parking just outside the front gate. The tabby sidewalk is lit by a gas lantern.

On the ground level is a driveway to the underneath garage, which has room for two cars and a boat. The landscaped yard sports lawns front and back as well as a large oak tree, pine and various shrubs and plants. The main stairway, accented with copper-topped wooden posts, leads to the front porch, which has tongue-and-groove wood flooring. Once inside, the first sight is of 100-year-old heart pine floors that are found throughout the home. The first floor has 10-foot ceilings and crown molding throughout.

Gracing the large, front living room is a fireplace with an extra-high block surround. There’s space on either side for shelves, but Dempsey says he is holding off to see what a buyer would want built there.

A possible future convenience is an elevator shaft that runs from the garage to the top floor. A buyer can install an elevator or leave the space as large closets.

Stainless steel appliances including Wolf range, Bosch dishwasher and refrigerator and an island with granite countertops and pendant lighting mark the open kitchen, which is adjacent to the living quarters. “It’s all top-of-the-line stuff,” Dempsey says.

On the side of the house off the kitchen is a wide, lengthy screened-in porch, which is wired for a plasma or other big-screen TV.

The first floor also has a bathroom with marble sink top and tile floors, sizable closets and stairs to the second floor. At the rear of the first floor looking out on the back yard is a rectangular “flex” room that could be made into a study, play room for youngsters or another bedroom — Dempsey says a bathroom could be added.

Marking the top floor is an ample master suite that faces north: visible is the Wappoo waterway that flows into the Stono River. The balcony off the bedroom has specially treated waterproof flooring. A one-of-a-kind perk is a small “morning bar” off the large bedroom and just inside the master bath. It has a beverage refrigerator, sink and a small counter for a coffeemaker.

Accentuating the bathroom, meanwhile, is a long tub reminiscent of a claw foot soaking area. There’s a sizable separate shower and a spacious closet.

“We are very pleased,” Dempsey says. “We try to think of every detail. It’s a modern house.”

Dempsey says he is holding an open house Sunday 1-4 p.m. at 12 Rebellion Road.

The house is near the south edge of the neighborhood. Cross the Ashley River Bridge and bear left onto Folly Road. Make an immediate right, which is Windermere Boulevard. Follow Windermere to Chadwick Drive and steer left. Take Chadwick to Rebellion Road. Ahead on the left is 12 Rebellion Road.
