DOLLAR DAYS: Romantically linked or not, these events are attractive to the wallet
If you're in a relationship, chances are you've already spent all your money on a gift or are saving it for the much-hyped Valentine's date.

Whether you're looking for the perfect Valentine's gift or treating yourself, tonight's event at O-Ku should satisfy your taste buds and your taste for pretty things.
Tonight 5:30-8 p.m., O-Ku, 563 King St., will host a clothing and jewelry show featuring designs from Colleton's Fine Clothing, Drift Projects and Birds of a Feather.
In addition, guests will enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres and sushi, with the option to purchase select specialty martinis and glasses of champagne for $5.

Charles Towne charm
This Saturday and Sunday, Charles Towne Landing is showing some love for the locals by offering half-price admission.
For residents of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties, admission will cost $3.75 for adults, $1.88 for senior citizens and $1.75 for children ages 6-15. A valid South Carolina ID is required to receive the discount.
I visited Charles Towne Landing just a couple of weekends ago and had a great time checking out the Animal Forest and going aboard the reproduction ship Adventure.
On Saturday, the park will host Exploration and Discovery Day, which will feature several free programs. For an extra $4, guests will have the opportunity to participate in exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of the Legare-Waring House and Animal Forest. Reservations are required for these tours.

Black history film
In honor of Black History Month, the Johns Island and Charleston County Main libraries are hosting free screenings of "Prince Among Slaves."
The film, narrated by musician Mos Def, is a dramatized account of the life of Abdul Rahman, an African prince who was captured and sold into slavery.
Dr. Artemus Gaye, a descendant of Rahman, will speak at both screenings.
The film will be shown at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Johns Island Library, 3531 Maybank Highway, and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Main Library, 68 Calhoun St.

Singles celebration
Singles and Valentine's Day haters unite! Tuesday from 10 p.m.-2 a.m., Mellow Mushroom, 309 King St., is hosting its 11th annual Anti-Valentine's Day Party.
The party (which is open to couples) is designed for people who despise the holiday. The evening's festivities will include loveless music by DJ Natty Heavy as well as drink specials.
