College of Charleston men's basketball coach Bobby Cremins says it was physical exhaustion

that forced him to take a medical leave of absence from the team on Jan. 27.

This is the 64-year-old Cremins’ sixth season at the school. He also coached at Appalachian State from 1975-81 and then at Georgia Tech from 1981 until 2000.

During his tenure at the College of Charleston, the school compiled a 125-68 record.

The Cougars started off this season 10-2, but had lost six of their last eight games before Cremins stepped aside. Under interim coach Mark Byington, the Cougars are 2-2.
