Citadel drops 8th straight

Elon guard Jack Isenbarger scored 34 points and Elon held on for a 71-66 win over The Citadel tonight in Elon, N.C., handing the Bulldogs their eighth straight loss.

The Citadel is 4-19 overall and 1-11 in Southern Conference basketball. Elon is 12-10 and 7-4, good for first place in the SoCon's North Division.

Freshman guard Lawrence Miller scored 15 points and junior center Mike Groselle, who fouled out for the first time this season, had 14 points.

Marshall Harris' bank shot cut Elon's lead to 63-61 with 1:11 left, but the Phoenix scored the next six points, all on free throws, to stretch the lead back to 69-61.
