Retired accounting executive Bill Moody prevailed over lawyer and Laura Dukes Beck by a 3-2 margin Tuesday in their runoff for Charleston City Council’s District 11 seat, according to unofficial results.

Meanwhile, Folly Beach voters chose Dale Stuckey over Sandy Hickman by a slim 50.7-49.3 margin for Beck’s former seat on Folly Beach City Council, unofficial results show.

Moody, 67, received backing not only from several West Ashley council members but also from Mayor Joe Riley, whose recorded phone messages and letters were sent to voters in the West Ashley and James Island district.

On Folly Beach, Stuckey appeared to defeat Hickman, but with only six votes separating the two, election officials are expected to give the results extra scrutiny when they meet to certify the outcome later this week.
