A Moncks Corner woman died and another faces a felony DUI charge following a head-on collision Thursday night near Moncks Corner.
Candy Zoll, 47, died in a hospital emergency room from blunt force trauma injuries, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
S.C. Highway Patrol troopers charged 33-year-old Shana Robinson with felony driving under the influence in the crash.
Zoll had been heading south on Broughton Road in a 2000 Saturn shortly before 9 p.m., according to Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres, when Robinson was heading north in a 2005 BMW.
Beres said Robinson's car crossed the center line and collided with Zoll.
Rescue workers hospitalized both drivers and Robinson's passenger, 23-year-old Brittany Hartley of Moncks Corner.
Hartley remains in fair condition at Medical University Hospital, according to an official there, who said she could not release information on Robinson's condition.
Neither Robinson nor Hartley were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to troopers. They could not determine immediately if Zoll had been wearing her seat belt.
Authorities with the coroner's office and the Highway Patrol continue to investigate the accident.
