Troopers arrested a 33-year-old Moncks Corner woman on a felony DUI charge when she collided with and killed a 47-year-old Moncks Corner woman on Broughton Road last night.
Candy Zoll died in a hospital emergency room from blunt force trauma injuries she sustained in the accident, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
Zoll had been heading south on Broughton Road in her 2000 Saturn shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday when Shana Robinson was heading north in her 2005 BMW, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres. He said Robinson crossed the center line and collided with Zoll head-on.
Troopers charged Robinson, who is being treated at Medical University Hospital, with felony DUI. Her passenger, 23-year-old Brittany Hartley of Moncks Corner, also sustained injuries in the crash.
Neither woman in the BMW had been wearing a seatbelt, according to troopers. The accident remains under investigation.
