Marvin’s Meats, a Hollywood institution for half a century, will close Monday.

Owner Frank Marvin, 76, said he will no longer offer fresh cuts of meat from cows, pigs, goats and even rabbits as he plans to take some time to slow down a little.

In its heyday, Marvin’s Meats employed up to 25 people and sold hamburger patties to local McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s fast-food chains and even provided meat for The Citadel.

“There comes a time for everything,” he said.

Marvin plans to keep active at his nearby lumber mill.

“I would probably drop over dead in a month if I didn’t have something do to,” he said.
