Conde Nast: Charleston No. 3 best city in world for travelers

It’s not No. 1, but it’s close.

Readers of Conde Nast Traveler have once again given high marks to Charleston, naming it the third best city in the world behind top-ranked Sydney, Australia, and Florence, Italy.

The upscale travel magazine tallied 8 million votes as part of its annual Readers’ Choice survey, which ranked cities around the world based on their ambiance, friendliness, lodging, restaurants, culture, sightseeing and shopping.

In the lodging category, the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island came in at No. 37 among a worldwide field of 99 hotels and resorts.

Last week, Conde Nast announced that its readers’ survey ranked Charleston as the No. 1 travel destination among cities in North America for the first time.
