Freshman running back Shon Carson out with torn ACL

South Carolina freshman running back Shon Carson is likely out for the season with a knee injury.

Carson, who scored more than 100 touchdowns during his career at Lake City High School, tore the ACL in his knee during the first half against Georgia.

Carson had three rushing attempts for nine yards in the first two games of the season.

"Just talked to him and we'll try to redshirt him and give him four more years to play here," said South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier. "He's an outstanding runner with the ball, and I think he'll be a great tailback here. That will separate him a year from Marcus (Lattimore) and maybe give him more opportunities down the road."

Lattimore said he has tried to lift Carson's spirits the last couple of days.

"He's struggling right now," Lattimore said. "I talk to him every day. His head is down right now. I told him to keep his head up. He'll be fine; he's got at least three more years here."

Wide receiver D.L. Moore and cornerback Akeem Auguste are expected to miss Saturday's game with Navy.

Navy tickets still available

There are still tickets available for Saturday's home opener against Navy. Tickets are $40.

Meanwhile, the Auburn, Florida and Clemson games are considered sellouts, the USC athletics ticket office announced Tuesday.

Fans wishing to buy tickets and sit together for the games against Auburn (Oct. 1), Florida (Nov. 12) or Clemson (Nov. 26) would need to purchase season ticket packages, which remain on sale through the Gamecock Club.
