'Contagion'; 'Warrior'
'Contagion'
Rating: PG-13 for disturbing content and some language.
What it's about: A new virus spreads far and wide and kills millions, and scientists try to stop it.
The kid attractor factor: It's like a horror movie, with a virus instead of chain saws.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Hand sanitizers are your friends.
Violence: Death by convulsion, riots.
Language: A smattering of profanity.
Sex: Adultery is discussed.
Drugs: Alcohol, herbal remedies and vaccines.
Parents' advisory: Chilling and a little clinical, the images of a child dying make this too disturbing for the PG crowd. Suitable for 10 and older.
'Warrior'
Rating: PG-13 for sequences of intense mixed martial arts fighting, some language and thematic material.
What it's about: Two estranged brothers, veterans of the fight game, get back into mixed martial arts and brawl their way toward a confrontation in the ring.
The kid attractor factor: Mixed martial arts is the new hacky sack, right?
Good lessons/bad lessons: All any of us really want out of life is forgiveness.
Violence: Bloody, personal, brutal.
Language: Some profanity.
Sex: Not really.
Drugs: Cigarettes, booze.
Parents' advisory: It's a "finish with the big fight" boxing movie reset for the newer sport of mixed martial arts. Too violent for the very young, but OK for 12 and older.
