Woman accused of arson in Walterboro fire
WALTERBORO -- A 25-year-old St. George woman is accused of setting fire to a Walterboro insurance office last week.
Amy Nicole Head of Wire Road is charged with arson, according to a release from the Walterboro Public Safety Department. She is being held in the Colleton County Detention Center.
Public Safety officers were called to the American General office at 305 Robertson Blvd. about 7:40 p.m. on Friday. There was smoke in the building. Once on site, officers extinguished several small fires throughout the building, the release said.
Investigators determined there were seven small fires throughout the office, in places such as desks, a filing cabinet, a mail slot and a bulletin board. The fires had been started with paper. A State Law Enforcement Division arson investigator determined the cause to be arson.
On Monday, Public Safety investigators arrested Head and charged her with arson. According to a booking sheet, Head also is charged with financial transaction card fraud and forgery. Information on those charges was not immediately available.
