Motorcyclist killed in I-26 wreck identified
Columbia -- The motorcyclist killed in a collision on Interstate 26 in Lexington County earlier this week was identified by the Lexington County Coroner's Office as James Allen Farmer, 28, of Cayce.
Farmer was riding his motorcycle in the eastbound lanes between I-126 and U.S. 378 around 11:56 p.m. Monday when the collision occurred, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said.
The motorcycle struck a horse trailer being hauled by a Chevrolet sport utility vehicle driven by Donnie Creech, 67, of Cottageville, Jones said. Creech was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the incident.
The collision, which remains under investigation, caused the motorcycle and trailer to catch fire and shut down two lanes of the interstate for three hours, Jones said. Two horses in the trailer perished in the fire.
