City swim meet highlights
Highlights of the Coastal Carolina Aquatic Associaton regular season and championship meet, which was held July 17-19 at the Jewish Community Center in West Ashley:
1. COOSAW CREEK CROCS 3,009 1/2
Micah Bohon (15-18) 1st in butterfly, breaststroke, individual medley ... Callie Stauffer (9-10) 1st in freestyle, breast ... Jackson Seith (11-12) 1st breast, IM ... Mere-dith Welsh (11-12) 1st breast ... Sarah Anne Welsh (11-12) 1st free ... Dalton Delp (13-14) 1st free ... Alecia Rattigan (15-18) 1st free ... Crocodiles ended 22-year reign of Snee Farm, capturing the CCAA championship for the first time in team history ... Won 6 of 15 relay events, including final 3 ... "I cannot put into words of just how proud I am of the Crocodile Family. This team has worked harder than any team I have ever coached and truly have seen that hard work does pay off. Hats off to Snee Farm for pushing us all these years. Coach Jason Kreutner and his team are a class act. This championship goes to every single Crocodile that has ever been a part of our program. Matthew Hughes (15-18) 1st free, 3rd breast, 7th IM ... 9-10 girls won City Meet age group ... "The Piranhas really came alive after their defeat at Northbridge. The loss pushed the Piranhas to swim many best times against Snee Farm, setting them up nicely for City Meet. The Piranhas entered the City Meet hoping to defend their 4th-place finish. Their strong showing and commitment to swimming their best helped hold back the 'Shark Attack.' Congratulations to Parkshore on another great season!" -- Jean Bartlett

Then I looked down at the 'Shark Tank' and saw a lot of former Sharks and knew that our team has also arrived. More is yet to come. The Whales led the CCAA in overachieving in points scored and improvement in times. A truly great team performance! This was a very enjoyable season for us because of the high level of sportsmanship we encountered at each of our meets. This was especially true with our friends at Shadowmoss where we retained the Alberto Trophy in what proved to be the most exciting and fun meet of the summer. "The Sailfish ended the season with their best finish in over four years. The entire team has worked very hard and their improved times and 10th-place finish at the City Meet is a true testament of their skill. It has been an incredible journey for this group of swimmers, and as a coach I couldn't be prouder. In addition to some amazing swims during the individual events, the relays truly showcased what the entire team is made of. Congratulations to all the Longpoint swimmers! It is great to see the CCAA getting more competitive. It is onward and upward for the Dunes West Swim Team. Our goal was to improve from last year's 14th place, and we succeeded with a 13th-place finish. The overall team scores and swimmers' times are getting closer together. Our seniors lead the Stingrays to another great season! Our swimmers continued to focus on having fun and working hard. All of their efforts paid off with an 8-0 record in the Blue League and moving up two places in the City Meet. I am so proud of all of the Stingrays swimmers for working together.
