Gamecocks picked to win SEC East; Jeffery is All-SEC vote leader

HOOVER, Ala. – South Carolina was picked to successfully defend its 2010 SEC East title in SEC Media Days voting totals released Friday morning.

The Gamecocks received 114 of 167 first-place votes. Georgia was second with 38, followed by Florida (12), Tennessee (2), Kentucky (1) and Vanderbilt (none).

Alabama (111) is picked to win the SEC West, followed by LSU (30), Arkansas (23) and Mississippi State (1). Defending national champion Auburn did not receive a first-place vote but got more overall votes than Mississippi (2 first-place votes).

Alabama (98) is picked to win the SEC title, followed by LSU (29), Arkansas (18), South Carolina (14), Georgia (4), Florida (2) and Mississippi (2).

Gamecocks wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was the top vote-getter on the All-SEC team with 152. Other South Carolina players on the first team are running back Marcus Lattimore and safety Stephon Gilmore.
