Dambaugh in U.S. Girls match play
OLYMPIA FIELDS, ILL. -- Katelyn Dambaugh of Goose Creek advanced into the match play portion of the U.S. Golf Association's Girls Junior Championship for the second straight year, posting a 2-over-par 72 Tuesday at Olympia Fields Country Club.
Dambaugh, who lost in the final of last year's Girls Junior in Pinehurst, N.C., finished in a tie for 42nd with a score of 152. The low 64 earned spots in match play, which begins today. Six tied at 154 for the final three spots. Ariva Jutanugarn of Thailand was the medalist, shooting 68-72--140.
Dambaugh lost to Doris Chen of Bradenton, Fla., 3 and 2, in last year's final at the Country Club of North Carolina.
The tournament is open to girls who have not reached their 18th birthday.
--Brenda Frye of Rivertowne shot a 78 for field low gross and Laurann Litchfield of Shadowmoss had a 67 for field low net in Tuesday's CALGA tournament at Pine Forest Country Club.

College of Charleston outfielder Daniel Aldrich won the Coastal Plain League All-Star Home Run Derby title, hitting a record-tying 18 homers. The event took place on Sunday night in Fayetteville, N.C.
